My photographic practice is one in which I attempt to explore and question the viewers perception of an image. In doing so it is hoped that the viewer may be nudged to contemplate the image and the associated messages within it. Thus allowing a wider and deeper consideration of the embedded meaning of the objects and scenes captured.
Intrinsic to my photographic art is authenticity and democracy, the capturing of the actual state of the objects and scene, and not giving merit to one object or scene over another. With no manipulation of it, or the objects within it, combined with the minimal retouching and editing in the postproduction phase. The imagery is of what exists in front of the lens; it is always an attempt to reflect the world with its idiosyncrasies, contradictions and layers of meaning. Both medium format film and digital photography are used within various projects and explorations.
Fundamentally my work is about having the viewer engage with photography in a more contemplative way, taking time to reflect, deliberate and meditate.
All of the imagery on my site is for sale and can be purchased in a number of varying sizes and on various stock, also digital purchases can alos be made.
